HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
Merry
Christmas and Happy Hanukkah from Mike and Sharon! Another year has come and
gone for us here in Boulder, Colorado. We are coming up fast on our one-year
wedding anniversary, having started the year off right by getting married on New
Year’s Day in Lake Mary, Florida. We recently wrapped up our wedding
celebrations with an amazing honeymoon trip to Yellowstone National Park.
Mike
continues to work hard on his PhD here at the University of Colorado. There is
light at the end of the tunnel, since Mike will defend his dissertation this coming
November. We expect things to get pretty intense in the coming months, as
evidenced by the many AI, Machine Learning, and Statistics textbooks to be
found in random locations throughout the house. Happily, CU has gotten funding
and a robot from DARPA, which serves as a perfect testbed for Mike’s robotics
and machine learning research.
In
December, Sharon started a new job with the City of Denver’s Parks and
Recreation Department. This gives her a different perspective from the private
sector, and is a highly visible position with some great opportunities to
improve the way Denver uses its natural resources. Meanwhile, she continues to
enjoy photography and has gotten pretty darn good at the guitar! She and Mike
like playing “Hotel California” together and of course all the Jimmy Buffet
classics, too. Right now our audience consists of our very loyal dog Naiya, but we expect to be doing paid gigs soon! J
That’s
all for now—we wish you all the very best during the holidays and for the New
Year!
Take
care,
Mike
and Sharon
